Position: High School Math Teacher, Grades 9-12




The School



The New York City Charter High School for Computer Engineering & Innovation is a high school located in the South Bronx. We employ research proven strategies to raise our students? academic achievement. Our other network school received national recognition from US News and World Reports for Best High Schools 2019 and are high ranking in district 7 for impact and performance.



?We seek to develop the academic and social skills in our students which will help them build a foundation for the challenges of high school and the skills necessary for college and careers in the 21st century. Our network has earned a 95% student graduation rate, with many of our students achieving Advanced Regents diplomas and receiving scholarships to college. We work extensively with new teachers to get them to effective ratings in the shortest amount of time by providing extensive support through coaching, utilizing video, providing formative feedback, and participating in a collaborative partnership with Teachers College at Columbia University.

The Position: High School Teacher of?Math, grades 9-12



Instructional Responsibilities



? ?Collaboratively plan with teachers, counselors, and support staff to meet the needs of our students


? ?Provide a range of instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the different needs of students


? ?Plan units and lessons for all?classes that will develop skills aligning to the Common Core Standards


? ?Work with at-risk students as well as students with disabilities


? ?Participate as part of Pupil Personnel Committee in develop intervention strategies (Kid Talk)


? ?Review/grade student work and provide meaningful feedback to improve student skills


? ?Incorporate literacy into all units of instruction


? ?Develop relationships and consistently communicate with students? families







Other Professional Responsibilities



? ?Ensure the safety of students under your supervision


? ?Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, as needed, such as hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, supervision of extracurricular activities and dismissal


? ?Assist in moving students to proper locations during fire drills, special assemblies and events


? ?Collaborate as scheduled with other staff members (Common Planning Time)


? ?Keep accurate and organized records for student attendance and progress


? ?Provide tutoring to small student groups as needed



Qualifications



? ?Bachelor?s Degree (Master?s preferred or currently enrolled in Master?s program)


? ?High School experience preferred but not required


? ?Valid New York State Certification and/or must have valid NYS certification within 6 months of hire


? ?Familiarity with Smart Board and other instructional technology


? ?Urban teaching experience or other similar experience in an urban setting preferred


? ?Desire to work in a teacher ? driven, student - centered environment


? ?Ability to work well with colleagues


? ?Ability to communicate effectively and often with parents and families


? ?Belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
