Overview

Rising Ground, an innovative non-profit child and family service agency, is seeking a Treatment Family Foster Care Social Worker to serve foster youth, their treatment foster families, and biological families in the New York City area. Responsibilities include coordination of each youths' services and healing from trauma, case management, foster parent recruiting, licensing, training, and supervision/support of new and existing treatment foster families. Qualified applicants will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Connections experience, be detail oriented, and have a passion for helping person's served find lifelong connections while addressing grief, loss, and trauma. A Master's Degree in Social Work or related field is required and prior experience in foster care is a plus. This is a full- time position with a benefits package and a competitive salary. Position will require some travel and evening and/or weekend hours.

Responsibilities

* Provide individual, group and family psychotherapy for children in Foster Home Services

* Assess and provide family therapy to aid in discharge planning

* Perform ongoing clinical assessments for children and families

* Prepare reports and present in court if necessary

* Develop and facilitate support groups for all clients (parent, foster parents, children)

* Make recommendations for additional services when necessary

* Attend FTC meetings, quarterly case conference and other relevant meetings

* Provide training of parents, foster parents and children

* Assist with hospitalization and discharge planning following hospitalization

* Provide crisis intervention as needed

* Work collaboratively as part of a team

* Maintain progress notes and manage the case record

* Establish intake process and ongoing monitoring of all children receiving psychotherapy

* Share rotating 24-hour on-call responsibility.

* Involvement in existing groups

* Group parent activities may be required

* May be involved in agency research projects

* May present case material at agency-wide staff meetings

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

MSW required. Master's Degree in Social Work.

Preferred Education and Experience

Foster care experience is preferred.
