The Electrical Engineer position focuses on the design of analog and digital circuits at a very detailed technical level. This position requires experience with electronic circuit schematic capture, circuit simulation, component de-rating analysis, and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Design and test of electronic circuit boards and sub-systems. * Performs calculations and analysis required for electrical designs at the component, board, and sub-system level. Calculations include, component de-rating, power usage, Pulse Width Modulated current control, frequency response, system stability phase and gain margins, and Proportional Integral Derivative tuning. * Develops electrical components or sub-systems for new and existing products while working as part of a project team to complete the project on time and on budget. * Development to include: design concepts, PCB layout sizing, purchasing prototype components, total product cost estimates, prototype builds, embedded test software design and deployment. * Work in a lab environment to build and test design concepts and engineering prototypes for product verification. This includes compiling and presenting test data to support the design team. * Prepare release documentation and support manufacturing during the first production build and test. * Troubleshoot PCB's and systems to the component level, and provide support to field service when required. * Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as well as independently in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. The required qualifications are as follows:
* Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in analog circuit design. * Five (5) years of electronic circuit design experience in the Industrial market space (UL61010, UL508, and EN61000 EMC standards) * Experience developing electronic circuits for driving high voltage multipliers (Villard cascade and Cockcroft-Walton types) and sensor signal conditioning. * Experience with electronic circuit schematic capture, circuit simulation (LTSpice), and PCB layout software (Mentor PADS). * Experience troubleshooting electrical control systems. * Some experience working with embedded C for low level test programs.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
* Ability to apply sound engineering principles and practices in the design, development, and test of PCB's. * Ability to learn new electronic design software pacakages quickly. * Detail oriented and able to provide quick and accurate reports to Product Development Engineers. * Embedded controller design experience with overall system control concepts. * Embedded C and C++ programming experience is preferred. * Electronic circuit assembly and soldering is a plus. * Good written, oral communication, and organizational skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office products. * Excellent critical thinking skills. * Methodical and logical process oriented. * Ability to handle several projects at one time.
