Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Provide employee relations support (providing proactive solutions and advice, coaching and counseling management, communication of new policies, and guidelines and processes) to HR Business Partners, managers and employees.
  • Conduct confidential initial investigations or inquiries on employee complaints and/or disciplinary issues and recommend timely and appropriate resolutions, escalate complex issues or matters with legal implications to CoE and provide support on resolution.
  • Coordinate with the Learning and Development team to facilitate delivery of relevant compliance related training (e. g. business ethics, workplace harassment prevention) or employee relations training as needed.
  • Prepare and document all involuntary terminations including administration of severance packages.
  • Assist in the performance review process and the development of progressive disciplinary action including PIP plans for underperformers.
  • Handle all unemployment claims by collecting and completing information for timely submission. Work with vendor, managers and first hand witness on claim appeals.
  • Identify continuous improvement processes within HR Shared Services
  • Facilitate decisions ensuring consistent interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, including initial support to the site s management teams regarding interpretation of current working agreements and escalate to CoE where necessary .
  • Prepare and distribute information regarding changes or implementation on policies, practices and procedures to all hourly employees.
  • Other duties as required.

Leave Management

  • Review, track and process Leave of Absence requests, both FMLA and non-FMLA. Communicate with Managers and internal departments on LOA status for escalated queries. Work with HR Operations Representatives, third party vendors, employees, and managers, to ensure all documentation and leave is recorded, obtained and processed
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on work injuries, liaising with supervisors, employees, claims adjusters and internal HR Operations and payroll teams to ensure timely reporting of Work Compensation claims to carriers and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure the processing and completion of such claims.
  • Work closely with supervisors, employees and HR Operations Representatives to ensure prompt return to work from work injuries and leaves of absence, including advising employees and managers on determining reasonable accomodations and compliance with ADA requirements and necessary paperwork.
  • Support the resolution of more complex LOA queries, in partnership with Managers, and the Global Employee Relations CoE.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education:

  • A Bachelor s Degree in a business, organizational psychology or related field

Experience:

  • 10-15 year s years experience managing Employee and Labor relations
  • Expertise delivering employee relations in a multi-site, fast paced environment
  • Experience and relevant knowledge in handling grievance investigations and resolutions

  • Knowledge of labor and employment regulations in the US, and exposure to Canada and Latin America preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build trust and influence managers on resolution of Employee Relations issues
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiating and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Familiarity with HRIS functions, particularly Workday, preferred
